The regular meeting of Richlandtown Borough Council was held on December 8, 2008. Stanley Weikel opened the meeting at 7:00 P.M. Mayor Lloyd Ewer was absent.
On a motion by Roy Schulenberg, seconded by John Calder and passed by Council, the minutes from the November 10, 2008 meeting were approved as written.
SOLICITOR’S REPORT
HINKLE – The continued hearing for a zoning variance for L. Kenneth Hinkle will be held on January 22, 2008 at Borough Hall.
GLEN SMITH – If Mr Smith does not start completing his building project by Friday December 12, 2008 his building permit will be cancelled and he will be fined for non completion.
FINANCIAL REPORT
INSURANCE – The Borough was presented with three proposals for insurance for 2009.
H. M. Thomson $33000.00
First Federal $32000.00
Brown & Brown $28000.00
On a motion by Jim Bowman, seconded by John Calder and passed by Council, the insurance contract will be given to Brown & Brown with the lowest cost.
BUDGET – The budget was gone over in detail. The Boroughs full time employee position will be eliminated at the end of the first quarter of 2009. March 31, 2009.
RESOLUTION # 2008-03 – On a motion by Jonn Calder, seconded by Floyd Bless and passed by Council the 2009 budget was accepted.
RESOLUTION # 2008-04 – On a motion by Roy Schulenberg, seconded by Floyd Bless and passed by Council, the tax rate for 2009 will remain at .125 mills.
PUBLIC WORKS
WATER SUPERINTENDENT REPORT – On a motion by Floyd Bless, seconded by Roy Schulenberg, and passed by Council the Water Superintendents report was accepted as written.
ARSENIC – John Wassmer is waiting for the permits to continue with the arsenic project.
TIRES – Four new tires were put on the leaf vac.
PARKS & RECREATION
Jim Bowman gave a report for the park committee.
There will be a New Years Eve party at Benner Hall.
20 new tables were purchased for the hall.
Work is being done on the Ladies room at the hall
PUBLIC WELFARE
Councils Holiday get together will be held at Richlandtown Hotel on Wednesday, January 14, at 6:30 PM
BUILDING & GROUNDS
The Fire Company will be directed to have the electrical work inspected before finishing the remodeling of their meeting room.
PAYMENT OF BILLS
On motion by John Calder, seconded by Jim Bowman and passed by Council, the November expenditures were paid.
ADJOURNMENT
On motion by Floyd Bless seconded by Matt Scheetz; and passed by Council, the meeting was adjourned at 9:00 PM
