COUNCIL MINUTES

February 9, 2009

 

The regular meeting of Richlandtown Borough Council was held on February 9, 2009. Stanley  Weikel opened the meeting at 7:00 P.M. All members were present.

 

On a motion by John Calder, seconded by Roy Schulenberg and passed by Council, the minutes from the January 12, 2009 meeting were approved as written.

 

SOLICIOR’S REPORT

 

HINKLE – The continuation of the Hinkle hearing will be held on February 26, 2009 at Borough Hall. The Zoning Hearing Board will give their verdict.

 

SMITH – The Solicitor will have Josh Cavello send out a letter to Glenn Smith revoking his building permit.

 

MEEHAN OIL – The Solicitor has contacted Meehan Oil about removing the fuel oil delivered to Benner Hall after a stop delivery notice was sent to them. They will attempt to remove the fuel and credit the Borough for any fuel removed.

 

AUDIT – An audit will be performed on the tax collector books.

 

Jeff Jarrell from the Fire Company gave Council a list of rules for Firemen  washing their personal cars in the Firehouse. Council said they had no objection as long as the fire company monitored the situation.

 

Carol Seibert complained about a tow truck on New Street being parked there overnight. Council will have the code officer look into it.

FINANCE

 

TRANSFER  - On a motion by Floyd Bless, seconded by John Wassmer and passed by Council, money will be transferred from the General Savings  Fund to the General checking account  to cover the monthly bills.

 

PUBLIC WORKS

 

WATER SUPERINTENDENT REPORT – On a motion by John Calder, seconded by Matt Scheetz and passed by  Council  the Water Superintendents report was accepted as written.

 

RESOLUTION # 2009-02 – On a motion by John Calder, seconded by Roy Schulenberg and passed by Council, the Borough requests a grant from Penn Vest for arsenic removal from Borough wells.

 

RESOLUTION # 2009-03 – On a motion by Roy Schulenberg, seconded by John Calder and passed by Council, the Borough requests a grant from the Commonwealth Financing Authority for arsenic removal from Borough wells.

PARKS & RECREATION

 

April 4, 2009 will be the spring flea market.

The Borough Engineer is working on providing a sewer hook up for Benner Hall.

 

PUBLIC WELFARE

 

COMMUNITY DAY – On a motion by Jim Bowman, seconded by John Calder and passed by Council, $500.00 will be donated toward Quakertown Community Day July 4, 2009

 

 

PERSONNEL

 

The personnel committee will meet February 10, 2009 at Borough Hall.

 

PLANNING

 

Norman Finlayson the new owner of the Hillegas apartments spoke to the Planning Commission about finishing three apartments on the third floor. He presented the plans when the original apartments were build. Council requested that he submit new plans for what he wants to do.

 

OLD BUSINESS

 

The Zoning Hearing Board requests an alternate member for their board.

 

 

                                                PAYMENT OF BILLS

 

 

On motion by Jim Bowman, seconded by Roy Schulenberg and  passed by Council, the January expenditures were paid.
