Richlandtown Borough has received a Community Conservation Partnerships Program Grant Award from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The grant funds were requested to address two specific needs within the park. A portion of the grant funds will be used to install a “tot lot” playground for small children aged 2-5 years. This will be adjacent to the existing tot lot behind Benner Hall which is geared towards children in the 5-12-year-old age group. The new tot lot will provide an enclosed area where small children will be able to play in an environment developed just for their age group.
Within the same grant, funds were requested and awarded to install a 16,000 square foot off-leash dog park to be located behind the baseball field at Benner Memorial Park. Residents of the borough and surrounding communities will be able to safely allow their dogs to play and engage in a leash-free environment.
